The Five Eyes Intelligence Agency

The Five Eyes Intelligence Agency is a conglomerate of five major democratic countries; The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. All of these countries were members of the “XKeyscore” program, either helping create it or using it. XKeyscore was a tracking system implemented into servers. This system could latch onto a username or data profile on that site, and track it, and all the strokes on the keyboard, while also connecting it to other people and profiles. The program was made with major contributions from Germany, and then access was given to other members of the Five Eyes (XKeyscore).

Countries in the Five Eyes also took part in PRISM for a short time before the Snowden revelations, quickly retracting their membership after the leaks. Also in the leaks were documents discussing a project called “Tempora” from the British Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). This was a collaboration with the NSA, and it used buffers in fiber optic internet cables to temporarily make copies of passing communications and store them to be searched at a later date (Shubber).

However, the most universally felt leak were the documents regarding a program codenamed “Stateroom.” This program is still in use to date, meaning minimal information on it has been made public. Though it is known the program spans all five counties in the Five Eyes and is meant to intercept radio transmissions across the world. The program is overseen in over a hundred embassies, but not by diplomats. The only people with clearance are part of the 'Special Collection Service' (Allen).
